No Boil Pasta Bake

Warm, comforting, Delicious, and EASY. No need to pre-cook the pasta OR the sausage in this No-Boil Pasta Bake. And easy to clean up with only one pot. I serve this with crusty bread and a green salad. If I want more veggies, I mix in cooked zucchini or broccoli! So delish.

No Boil Pasta Bake

Warm, comforting, Delicious, and EASY! A smaller version of my original recipe. No need to pre-cook the pasta OR the sausage.
Prep time: 10 MinInactive time: 50 MinTotal time: 1 Hour

Ingredients

  • Butter or cooking spray for the baking dish.
  • 1/2 of a jar of 24 oz marinara sauce use Raos. Or 12 oz of homemade marinara.
  • 1 1/2 cups chicken broth (or water, just add extra salt)
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons dried Italian seasoning or dried basil.
  • 1/2 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground pepper
  • 1/2 pound uncooked rigatoni
  • 1/2 pound raw sausage (use any type of sausage you'd like)
  • 8 ounces of shredded mozzarella or provolone (it's cheesier if you shred it yourself)
  • 1/2 cup grated Parmigiano-Reggiano for serving (optional)
  • Crushed red pepper flakes (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 425 degrees F. Grease the bottom and sides of a 9x9 baking dish with butter or non-stick cooking spray.
  2. Add all ingredients to a baking dish and stir. Try to push the pasta into the liquid the best you can.
  3. Cover tightly with aluminum foil and bake until the pasta is al dente, about 40-50 minutes. (if it's not done at this point, cover and cook for 10 more minutes)
  4. Remove from the oven. Serve with more Parmesan, a green salad, and crusty bread if desired.

Notes

  • If you use another pasta shape, the cook times may be slightly different. You will know when the dish is done when the pasta is al dente or tender.
  • To double the recipe, double the ingredients in half and bake in a 9x13 baking dish.
  • I love use 4-8 ounces of whole milk mozzarella that I grate myself. But use whatever cheese you'd like.
  • If your pasta bake is dry, add water, stir, and cook for ten more minutes.
