Make-Ahead Strata; Brunch or Breakfast ready

Strata is a baked egg dish perfect for entertaining. It's a hearty, comforting dish that can be prepared the day before and enjoyed any time of day. It's also endlessly customizable, so experiment with your favorite flavor combinations.

Ingredients

Instructions

  1. Position a rack in the center of the oven and preheat to 350 degrees F. Grease a 1 1/2 quart (9x9) baking dish with butter or cooking spray.
  2. Whisk the eggs, milk, nutmeg, cayenne, salt, and pepper together in a large bowl. Fold the rest of the ingredients. Pour into the prepared baking dish and top with the additional cheese if desired.
  3. Cover with foil and bake for 35 minutes. Uncover and bake until the strata is puffed, golden brown at the edges and set in the center, about 15 minutes more. Test the center for doneness. Let cool slightly and enjoy

Notes

  • This strata can be baked immediately or assembled the night before and refrigerated until baking the following morning.
  • If using hearty veggies like broccoli place in microwave to soften for 1 1/2 minutes before adding to strata mixture.
