One Pan Steak and Potatoes with Steak Butter

When it comes to classic comfort food, few dishes can match the simplicity and satisfaction of steak and potatoes with a compound butter. And while there are countless ways to prepare these two ingredients, one of the easiest and most delicious methods is to cook them in the oven.

Ingredients

  • 1 pound Yukon Gold potatoes small ones halved and larger ones quartered
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • salt & pepper to taste
  • ½ teaspoon dried garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
  • 2 large top sirloin steaks about 1 ½ inches thick and 1.5 lbs in total
Compound Butter for Steak
  • ¼ cup salted butter softened
  • ¼ teaspoon dried garlic powder
  • 2 tablespoons chopped fresh parsley

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 375˚F
  2. Microwave potatoes on high for 3 minutes to give them a head start in cooking. Then slice them in half.
  3. Preheat oven-proof skillet. Add olive oil and wait until it's hot.
  4. Season steaks liberally with salt.
  5. Insert ThermoPro Temp Spike into the thickest part of the steak and set app to your desired temperature.
  6. Add steaks and potatoes (cut side down) to the hot pan.
  7. Drizzle potatoes with olive and salt. Sear the steaks on one side until brown. Turn steaks over.
  8. Place skillet with steak and potatoes into the oven.
  9. While they are cooking, In a small bowl combine butter, garlic salt, and parsley. Set aside.
  10. Cook steaks until your desired temperature is reached. Remove and top steaks with butter mixture.

Notes

  • Add a cup of cherry tomatoes to the skillet if desired.
